CBD Edible Calculator
This free CBD edible calculator finds exact CBD milligrams per serving for gummies, oil, and baked goods. Works for CBD-only edibles and mixed THC:CBD recipes, with decarb efficiency for oven, sous vide, Instant Pot, Ardent FX, and air fryer.
The CBD Edible Math
CBD edible potency comes down to four numbers: how much flower you start with, its CBD percentage, how efficiently you decarb it, and how many servings you divide the batch into. The formula:
(grams × CBD% ÷ 100 × 1000 × decarb efficiency) ÷ servings = mg CBD per serving
It is exactly the same math as THC edibles — cannabinoids are cannabinoids as far as infusion is concerned. What changes with CBD is the dosing scale: where a THC edible is measured in 2.5-10mg steps, CBD servings commonly run 10-50mg because CBD is non-intoxicating and has a much wider comfortable range.
CBD Dosing by Goal
- 5-10mg per serving — general wellness, first-timers, daytime use
- 15-25mg per serving — stress and sleep support, the most common homemade target
- 25-50mg per serving — experienced users, targeted relief
- 50mg+ — heavy servings; work up to these rather than starting there
CBD's effects build gradually and it is far more forgiving than THC — an extra 10mg of CBD is a non-event where an extra 10mg of THC can ruin an evening. That said, high doses can cause drowsiness and can interact with some medications, so the "start low, go slow" rule still applies.
Decarbing CBD Flower: Slightly Different From THC
Raw hemp flower contains CBDA, the acid precursor of CBD, just as THC-dominant flower contains THCA. Heat converts one to the other — but CBDA needs a little more time than THCA. For oven decarb, use 240°F for 60-90 minutes (versus 40 minutes for THC flower), or 250°F for about 30 minutes if you are in a hurry. Every method in the dropdown above works; the efficiency percentages are the same ones we use across the dosage calculator.
CBD Flower vs Isolate vs Distillate
CBD flower (10-20% CBD) needs decarbing and infusing like any cannabis — use the calculator above as-is. CBD isolate is ~99% pure CBD powder and needs no decarb: 100mg of isolate is ~99mg of CBD, and it dissolves directly into warm oil or butter. Distillate is typically 80-90% CBD and also pre-activated. For isolate or distillate, select "No Decarb" above and enter the potency from your certificate of analysis as the CBD percentage.
Worked Example: CBD Gummies
Say you have 7 grams of 15% CBD hemp flower and want a batch of 30 gummies, oven-decarbed:
- Total CBD: 7g × 15% × 1000 = 1,050mg
- After oven decarb at 90% efficiency: 1,050 × 0.90 = 945mg activated CBD
- Per gummy: 945 ÷ 30 = 31.5mg CBD per gummy
Want milder 15mg gummies instead? Double the batch to 60 gummies, or halve the flower to 3.5g. Potency scales linearly, so the calculator gives you an exact number for any combination.
Mixed THC:CBD Edibles
If your flower has both cannabinoids — or you are blending THC flower with CBD flower — enter both percentages and the calculator reports mg per serving for each plus the THC:CBD ratio. Balanced (1:1) and CBD-dominant (1:2, 1:5) edibles are popular because CBD takes the anxious edge off THC.
